Our Pre-CIT Program
*Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 15
Pulsars is proud of its highly capable and well-trained staff. Starting at age 13, we begin the process to recruit and train individuals who have interest in coaching. The process starts with our Pre-CIT leadership course.
The main goal of this course is to introduce leadership concepts and foster a safe place for leadership to be developed. The skills learned during this course will not only be applicable to coaching gymnastics, but will help as you begin your professional life. It is expected that all participants will be in attendance for every class. On top of the theory portion of the course, there is a 10-hour volunteer component where the participants will have the opportunity to work in a practical coaching setting. This is a hands-on and interactive course so please dress appropriately and come ready to participate.
The Facilitator
Tyler Yap Young
The course is taught by our very own Tyler Yap Young. Tyler is a highly trained Coach as well as a Coach Evaluator and Coach Developer for Gymnastics Ontario. Tyler received formal & theoretical leadership training when he attended the University of Guelph where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Management, Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Certificate in Leadership. Since then, Tyler has been using his knowledge to help develop our future leaders. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to him.

The Course

The Pre-CIT Course consists of 8 lessons over 8 weeks. Each lesson is 2 hours and will focus on different elements of leadership as well as specific gymnastics events/ skills. Successful completion of the course does not guarantee employment at Pulsars Gymnastics. Students that have successfully completed the course will be given an interview for the position of Coach in Training. Beyond employment at Pulsars the course will prove to be a valuable part of any young persons resume.
Successful students can also count on Tyler to provide a positive reference letter should they need it in the future.
The cost for the course is $60.
